Our History

In 1985, the Monroe County Council for Life assisted the community in opening the Center under the name “People Who Care” after seeing the great need to support women facing an unplanned pregnancy. The agency’s name was changed to the “Crisis Pregnancy Center of the Poconos” in June of 1987 when a new Board of Directors was established and affiliation was obtained with the Christian Action Council, now called Care Net. In May 2004, the name was changed to the current to more accurately reflect the services of the Center and to increase the appeal to the abortion-minded client. Over the past 36 years, we at PRCP have seen over 4,500 clients in our center. During this time, we have seen babies saved, women come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and families’ needs met in our community.
